I’m with Terry and Stephen…to me it feels like that 19th Century Missionary Zeal all over again to behave like (a) the only poverty is overseas and (b) those people need wealthy white Christians to ’save’ them.
There are sponsorship programs in Australia though…I sponsor a kid through the Smith Family’s Learning for Live program.
