[…] Simone joined the 7 a.m. North Steyne swimming group today and seemed to enjoy herself during the swim and over breakfast in the Honolulu Grill, where her daughter, the very well-behaved Zoe, joined us. And, as a bonus, she guest starred in today’s In Latte Veritas podcast. […]

Hmmm - I see there are no secrets in Manly!!
Thanks for including me - the swim was great.
Zoe loved the smoothie too and we made it to school on time.

I find it impossible to listen to these podcasts without wanting to continue the conversation or at least put in my two cents.
I am of the mind that there are a number of older folks who are racists, but change is always possible (unless, of course, dementia has set in). They may have grown up in a different world than we have but like it or not, they live in the same world with us now. I had better be careful or I’ll sound like an ageist before too long!
Regardless of what one thinks, though, I think it is important to let older loved ones know of a difference of opinion. Not only is it almost lying by omission, it could give them the opinion that you agree or at least condone such behaviour.
Thanks for another enjoyable show.
