Steven talks about a blind date he went on, which (as with everything he does) threw up a lot of issues for him. We tackle questions from Victoria of 3 Blind Mice, who have a new album out. It includes our opening track, Dead Penguin, which Steven incorrectly calls Dead Penguins (apologies, 3BM).Finally, Steven asks for listener help. His friend Fleur refuses to believe that The Rules is like a radio show and listened to all over the world. Please leave a comment on the blog or email us to say hello to Fleur, tell her where you are in the world, and include any message you like.UPDATE: Fleur asked me to remove the picture that went with this entry because she felt it made a suggestion about her. I’ve replaced it with the flowers you see. The original is still embedded in the MP3 as album art, which you can see with iTunes or on the right sort of iPod or other player.Fleur is very much enjoying your emails and comments so please keep them coming ![]()

Hello Fleur,
I’ve been listening to Steven’s podcast from the comfort of my home in Gloucester, England.
I know it’s incredible to believe Steven’s vitriol is not just reserved for the Bav Caf and is actually listened to around the world but he tells me it’s true…

Hello Fleur,
How lucky are you getting emails from Gloucester and all over? It must be a little strange for you to be receiving greetings from people who don’t know you and who, it would appear, realy do listen to a podcast aka radio program!! What a crazy world this internet business is. Amazing.

Hey Fleur,
Steven is an absolute podcasting machine. Im listening from Wellington, New Zealand but im off to Ontario, Canada next week and im not gonna stop listening then, so that counts as two places around the world where Steven is “famous”.
Moving on from Stevens fame and clearly pending fortune I have to say I disagree with not ringing your date after a night of passion. This seems to me to be extreemly rude and will leave the woman feeling used. It sounds like you got on as friends and I dont see why you couldnt just see each other again in a friendly capacity. -you dont have to be romantically involved with everyone new that you meet.
But hey! thats just what I think, I hope the new podcast once a month fromat works out for you.

Hello Fleur - Another comment for you, following the “airing” of TheRules podcast #.31! I am a long time listener to (and occasional “Commenter” on, more usually about the working and/or otherwise of Steven’s RSS feeds!) of both of Steven’s podcasts, InLatteVeritas and TheRules. Both of these are really excellent examples of the podcast genre, and there are a multitude out there in the podasphere to listen to! As to where I do my podcast listening: well, I live in the South East of England, very near to Gatwick Airport (which is about half way between London and Brighton (on the South Coast of England)), and I listen where ever I might be at the time, using my iPod Shuffle…..but my prime time for listening is on my daily commute into/from work on weekday mornings/evenings. And, by the way, what does “catching up” mean? I am (like it sounds Steven is too) intrigued to know! All the best, AlanLB.

Hello Fleur,
My name is David and I live in Milwaukee, WI, USA. Despite the infrequent updates as of late, The Rules is my favorite internet audio program. The Rules, like most podcasts, is similar to talk radio but, as Steven can tell you, there are many other innovative uses of this revolutionary technological phenomenon! The big traditional media (at least in the USA) has also picked up on this and many newspapers and TV news outlets also produce podcasts to supplement their main content. It seems clear to me that podcasting will soon enter the mainstream consciousness — Steven has even bet his career on it! — although, I may be biased as a podcaster myself. I don’t know anything about your character, Fleur, but you should listen to Steven’s podcast, if for no other reason than to anonymously spy on the trouble he will most assuredly get himself into.
Cheers,
David from Brunchohol (http://www.brunchohol.com/)

Yo Fleur
Just letting you know that I have been listening to Steven and the absolutely enchanting Miss Rhylla since show 1. Now granted I am in Canada and there really isn’t that much to do but still. The Rules is hands down, my favorite podcast.

Hello Fleur,

Steven, Rhylla, glad to hear that you guys will be continuing the RADIOSHOW. I was suffering from withdrawl and looking to catch up…

I would like to point out, Steven, that the way you described your ‘date’ in this podcast was VERY different to the version you told me. Which was, and I loosely quote, “I didn’t want to see her again because she put out on the first date”. Steven you are a hoary cliche and I’m ashamed to know you.
Now update me quickly on how you broke the news to Fleur that she had been discussed
PS Mum says hi to Fleur after listening to your podcasts at home in Gloucester. Cheers for mentionning pills in relation to me Steven. That took some explaining away…

Hi Fleur,
It’s Kathryn, Steven’s long suffering sister, listening to The Rules from London. I have to agree with the other commenters that The Rules is my favourite podcast show, I may be biased but I have tried quite a few. Maybe you’ll get to be a guest sometime soon, something I have been requesting for quite some time. If you get there before me I promise not to hold a grudge…much.

Howdy Fleur!
The Rules is a great podcast, my favorite Aussie one.
This is Charles from McKinney, Texas, just north of Dallas. I know Steven from the Podcast Pickle forums. He seems like a nice guy, just don’t let him walk on the curb side of the street.

Fleur,
In an effort to add some validity to Steven’s claims of being the host of an internet “radio show”, we at The MannersCast have included some content about Steven’s podcast on our own podcast recorded in the Great State of Texas, USA!
Please join us in the 21st century and download some great audio content in The Rules and The MannersCast! We would love to have you!
Sincerely,
Trent
