Steven’s mum, Sue, is back to tell him “you’re wrong”. You’ll have no trouble seeing where Steven gets his prescriptive streak.
We discuss manners on the train and if you should apologise for making a mistake. And Sue wants to know why you keep burdening her with your confidences.
It’s a short one for us — half an hour — so make the most of it
And please drop us a line. We love hearing from you, especially when you agree with Steven.

I agree with Steven’s mother; it’s absolutely ridiculous not to say “excuse me”

Steven, Steven, Steven! While I usually agree with you (consider absence of comment agreement from me), in this case, your mother is right and you are wrong. When you ask your neighbor in the train to let you by, you’re not announcing your intention to get off the frigging train, you’re apologizing for inconveniencing her. Say excuse me!
And have your mother on as often as possible, please.
